Storytelling with Video
Participants learn to create their own videos by following Lauren's filmmaking formula—planning, shooting, and editing. Storytelling and moviemaking skills develop through interactive presentation, breakout exercises, hands-on examples, and devoted group work time. Participants leave this workshop with a refreshed perspective on how to communicate their research and the confidence to make movies.

Communicating Concisely
Communicating clearly, memorably, and with impact requires effective and direct messages. But distilling your work is often challenging, and audiences outside of your specialty may struggle to grasp the significance. Learn to create “soundbites”—concise messages that communicate a specific idea with clarity. Based on the storytelling advice of The Craft of Scientific Films, this workshop guides participants to design technical, yet emotional, soundbites to apply to future writing, presentations, and films.

Instead of a drab or technically dense document, writing can come to life like a movie. Stronger—and probably shorter—sentences with a variety of structures and active verbs will engage and excite prospective readers.
